FREE Seed Exchange and Community Potluck

Come join this Free Event for the community!

On March 7th from 12 – 4 p.m. there will be a seed exchange and potluck on the field of the Salmon Creek Community School grounds.

Thanks to a grant provided to the Salmon Creek community from Cooperative Gardens Commission there will be a variety of seeds available for community members to pick through and take home. If anyone has extra seeds they would like to share, they are welcome to bring them, but no exchange is required to have access to seeds.

We encourage bringing a potluck item to share, if you’re able and interested. This event is intended to bring the community together to share resources, with no expectations.

Agnes J. Johnson Charter School Closure

Our hearts are heavy with processing the news of the potential imminent closure of Agnes J. Johnson Charter School. So many wonderful people have put in many years of heartfelt effort and passion to keep the school alive. Thank you to everyone who has given their time and love to support the education of our local youth.

We invite any and all who can to donate to https://gofund.me/37d04b2d3

The effort is strong to raise awareness, spread hope and do anything possible to save the school from closing early!

We are sincerely sorry to all who are now having to make major adjustments and pivots as they navigate what this changes means for them and their families.

Salmon Creek Community School would like to do all that we can to help. The main program we are currently running one day a week is centered towards families with children 0 – 5. However, we have the resources to expand the programs we offer, based on need and interest from families.

For anyone who would like to share more about what they are looking for in a school program, please take a moment to fill out our Parent-Student Interest Survey:

https://forms.gle/QKKJpDzspjMUPwATA

This allows us to collect the information we use to understand the needs and demographics of families and their children, which can help us create a customized program to fit those needs.

You can also reach out to us directly through email: salmoncreekcs@gmail.com
or through the Contact page.

We are sending love and compassion to everyone during these difficult times, and will continue to strive to do our best to support one another in our local and broader communities. Together, we continue on – one step at time.

Edible & Medicinal Plant Walk – Feb 7th (before Valentine’s Craft Fair)

We are excited to share another one of our Community Workshops: an Edible & Medicinal Plant Walk with our lovely former teacher, current board member and beloved neighbor Kato.

This fun, quick guided walk through the area happens right before our Valentine’s Day Craft Fair. So come take a stroll around the neighborhood, learn about local flora from a passionate educator and come hang out at the school afterwards for food, fun and friends.

Check out the flyer below for more details! Let us know your questions too.
